Choosing The Right Gearbox For The Job

There’s a lot to consider when choosing the right DESCH product for your specific application.

Performance Requirements

Power, torque and speed determine the appropriate motor and gearbox configuration.

Key factors to assess include:

  • Required motor power
  • Rated and peak torque
  • Required output speed

Machine Integration

Physical integration is an important part of the selection process.

Inline installation options:

  • Available installation space
  • Horizontal or vertical installation
  • Output flange and shaft configuration

Configuration

Choice between standardized availability and customer specific.

Our options include:

  • BASE-Line: Standardized and pre-configured
  • High availability and stocked core components
  • FLEX-Line: Individually configurable
  • Optional monitoring and cooling systems

Maintain For Longevity

While DESCH products are engineered for long-term performance, appropriate maintenance helps protect reliability, extend service life, and prevent avoidable downtime.

  • Follow the specified lubrication and operating requirements
  • Monitor gearbox temperature and operating conditions
  • Inspect lubrication, cooling and media supply systems regularly
  • Monitor vibration and torque where applicable
  • Address abnormal noise, temperature, vibration or shifting behaviour before it develops into a larger drive issue
